The EngagePrimaryCare.ca has been made possible by a collaborative effort initiated between the Alberta College of Family Physicians, AHS Primary Health Care Program, and Alberta Medical Association’s Section of General Practice and was developed to balance the demand and supply for primary care involvement in the many innovative health care projects and system transformation activities.
The website’s purpose is to facilitate and support an efficient and effective engagement process for family physicians.
The Alberta College of Family Physicians (ACFP) is the provincial chapter for the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC) and was established more than 60 years ago. The ACFP is a professional voluntary organization, representing more than 4,300 family physicians, family medicine residents, and medical students in Alberta. We strive for excellence in family practice through advocacy, continuing medical education, and primary care research.
The ACFP has been charged with managing the administration of the Engaged Leadership Secretariat and endeavours to work with its partners to support and build on:
- Coaching family physicians and their organizations in leading and supporting change
- Facilitating collaboration within the health care system
- Developing and enhancing family physician leadership skills
- Fostering a common understanding and language of leadership with one another, within teams, and with other professionals and specialists across the system

The AMA SGP provides supports its members in their educational requirements of becoming primary care leaders and encourages their participation in collaboratively moving toward system reform.
